Directors and Coaches

DIRECTORS


Jim DeRosa is a former D-1 and professional baseball player and has been teaching Social Studies and coaching baseball at Northport High School since 1997.  Jim currently serves as the Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach. His previous coaching experience: Associate Head Coach from 2019-2021, Head JV Coach from 1997-1999, 2018, Varsity Assistant Coach from 2000-2015, Head JV2 Coach from 2016-2017.  In 1998, 1999, and 2018, Jim was JV Coach of the Year for League 2. Jim played 4 years of college baseball at LIU/Post, and 2 years of pro baseball in the North East Independent Baseball League. 
Sean Lynch is a former D-1 baseball player and has been teaching Physical Education and coaching baseball in the Northport/East Northport School District since 2002. Sean currently serves as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach. His previous coaching experience is as follows: Associate Head Coach from 2019-2021, Head JV Coach from 2002-2017. In 2009 and 2015, Sean was named J.V. Coach of the Year for League 2 in Suffolk County. Sean played 4 years of college baseball for nationally ranked University of South Florida. 
Rich Castellano has been working in the Northport/East Northport UFSD since 1974. A retired math teacher, Rich has served as a baseball coach at Northport High School on all three levels for the past 26 years. Rich has also served as Head Varsity Softball Coach. He is also the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Northport H.S. He has held that position for the past 40 years.  He has led the Lady Tigers to 13 Suffolk County titles and 5 Long Island titles.  In March of 2009, Rich was elected to the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame.
